Supervision with Gillie Bolton

River Wolton

I facilitate a wide range of creative and therapeutic writing groups and have been in supervision with Gillie for six years.   The sessions always leave me feeling inspired and renewed.   I am given encouragement, ideas and structures for my personal development and the progress of my work with others.   Gillie supports me to take on new challenges, to recognise my limits and to value the work that I?m doing.   Her guidance is crucial when I?m in the doldrums and her validation is the icing on the cake when things are going well.   Her extensive experience of writing and people-work is invaluable and she always has practical ideas up her sleeve to help with log-jams and blocks.

Gillie is a true ally. With her support, my professional practice and my own writing has improved by leaps and bounds!

Monica Suswin

As someone who has had earlier careers in psychotherapy and journalism, my working life now weaves elements from both into the practice of therapeutic writing.

Our sessions touch on potent energy for writing which treads a fine line between the therapeutic and the creative.   In her own writings, Gillie emphasises you can?t get it wrong when encouraging people/clients to explore their own writing process.   Much the same emphasis could be said of these sessions which have the potential to touch on issues arising out of working practice whether with groups or individuals or in fact explore ones own writing.

In experiencing her particular style of working, I am learning a different approach and accordingly find my own work with others evolving more dynamically.

Gillie provides a very open space in which to bring issues relating to good practice and I find her supportive role invaluable.

Gillie combines the rigour of an academic mind with a poet?s vision.    Through working with her, I am reconnecting with my literary roots.    She is opening up the joy of language, helping me open up the space for words to flow from my heart to my pen.   Gillie silences my inner critic.

It was Gillie's work that initially inspired me and has led me to facilitate workshops of a similar kind.  She has been an invaluable pulse-beat of encouragement and enthusiasm for me over the years, for which I am enormously grateful.  Gillie has such a marvellous capacity to make things feel possible, with just a few words and a huge amount of love.
