Academic Publication Course Evaluation

Writing for Academic Publication Course Evaluation comments

  • I have rarely (if ever) been so impressed by a facilitator.  I found the whole experience really amazing and enjoyable.

  • I was surprised I can be a good writer; I gained a sense of affirmation, self-belief

  • I will now call myself a ‘writer’.   I now know I’m a writer not just an academic.

  • I gave myself an affirmation that I can find a style of my own, and that is a key to being a good writer

  • I had forgotten how much I can enjoy writing, and how much fun it can be to try to enliven a piece.

  • Everything was useful

  • I liked the introduction to a completely different approach to writing which may solve my main writing difficulties

  • I appreciated the punctuated words of wisdom among the short targeted exercises

  • I was most engaged by the challenge to my preconceptions
I will take back for the future a much kinder inside voice telling me what to do and how to do it.

  • I will take back for the future that I can write my way into writing
I found it helpful learning how to write my way into writing, and out of writing blocks

  • I have discovered my inner critic is separate from me, so I can tackle it – that is a huge liberation.

  • I will take back lots of mechanisms to loosen up my approach, and LOTS of tips about making the process more manageable.

  • I found the structured sessions helpful

  • I found the strategies for editing and getting started very helpful

  • I learned a great deal about editing, working on the structure of papers

  • An understanding that not editing properly is crucial in guaranteeing failure, and my not being able to bring myself to undertake a final stage of editing is about my fear of exposure, of being laughed at etc.  but not doing it of course makes it even more likely I’ll be exposed and laughed at!
